Cette kokeshi représente une komori, c’est-à-dire une jeune bonne d’enfant, comme cela s’est pratiqué au Japon pendant la première moitié du 20e siècle, portant sa jeune charge sur le dos. Le portage est d’ailleurs encore très présent au Japon. La komori est devenue avec le temps l’image même de l’amour maternel.
Cette pièce unique est le travail de Réka Toth-Vasarhelyi, une artiste hongroise dont les kokeshi ont été plusieurs fois récompensées au Japon.

Komori kokeshi are well-loved, but are rather rare amongst traditional kokeshi! Komori is originally a word used to design the young girls who worked as children carers in the early 20th century. With the passing years, they became a symbol of maternal love.
This one-of-a-kind is the work of Réka Toth-Vasarhelyi, an Hungarian artist whose kokeshi have been awarded several times in Japan.
