Cette kokeshi représente un jeune moine (l’artisane précise qu’il s’agit d’un garçon) en tablier, prêt à nettoyer le sanctuaire, ou à accueillir les visiteurs.
Le haut de la tête porte un dégradé turquoise qui symbolise les cheveux rasés, la tonsure étant très souvent adoptée par les moines bouddhistes, homme ou femme.
Chaque exemplaire étant unique, la kokeshi reçue peut-être un peu différente (tracé du visage)

This kokeshi depicts a young monk (the artist specifies that it is a boy) in an apron, ready to clean the shrine or to welcome visitors.
The top of his head is shaded turquoise to symbolise his shaved hair, which is very common among Buddhist monks, both male and female.
